Who We Are

Matira Bush Camp, situated in the heart of Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve, was established by Monika and Antony, passionate animal lovers and nature enthusiasts who have been exploring the region together for over two decades. Their deep appreciation for the Maasai Mara's unique landscape and wildlife inspired them to create a camp that brings guests closer to this remarkable environment. The camp began as a mobile bush camp, allowing guests to experience the wilderness intimately. Over time, it grew into a more permanent establishment, and for more than fifteen years, Matira Bush Camp has welcomed visitors to its prime location in the Maasai Mara. The camp is built to harmonize with nature, offering an authentic safari experience amidst Africa's dramatic wildlife. A key aspect of Matira's operation is its commitment to ecological management and conservation. The camp employs a team composed entirely of local Maasai members, whose extensive knowledge of the native flora, fauna, and culture enriches the guest experience and ensures safety in the wilderness. Additionally, Matira collaborates with organizations like the Peregrine Fund to support the conservation of birds of prey, particularly vultures, which play a crucial role in the ecosystem.

Our Journey, Your Adventure

Beyond wildlife conservation, Matira is dedicated to supporting the local community. The camp contributes to educational initiatives, such as funding and sponsorship for Maasai children at the Enkiteng Lepa all-day school in Tepeshua, Molibany School, Talek clinic and focusing on education and water supply. Today, Matira Bush Camp offers guests an intimate eco-camp experience with 16 tastefully furnished tents, each carefully placed for maximum privacy and in harmony with the surrounding nature. The camp's location provides an excellent base for various adventurous excursions, including game drives, walking safaris, and cultural visits, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the wonders of the Maasai Mara.
